01Reading

Like turning a real book.

Manga, comics and webtoons each read their own way. Manul infers the reading direction — right-to-left, left-to-right, or continuous vertical — from image proportions and metadata, and never overrides a setting you chose by hand.

  • 3D page curlLight, shadow and spring-back of the curling paper are tuned by hand — a flick of the thumb and the page is turned.
  • Infinite canvasPan and zoom freely; double-tap to focus on a single panel.
  • Landscape spreadsTwo-page spreads are stitched automatically, with a real shadow in the gutter.
  • True-to-size spinesSpine thickness is computed from the actual page count, so a series stands on the shelf with uneven, honest edges — also available as a Home Screen widget.

Details, a little sharper.

Real-CUGAN runs on the device, tuned for line art and screentone. Noisy old scans and muddy dots clean up with one switch — on the Apple Neural Engine, fully offline; images never leave the phone.

Streaming reads pull pages from archives tens of gigabytes large on demand — no full download, no unpacking first. SMB and WebDAV shares on the local network are discovered automatically.

A long-press opens a hidden entrance, unlocked with Face ID or Touch ID. When the app moves to the background the screen blurs, so nothing shows in the app switcher.
